FAQ

What guests often ask

Is the pool usable in winter too?

Yes. The indoor pool is open all year round, as are the hot tub for five, the multifunctional sauna and the steam bath. The pool has a counter-current system, a children's area and a water slide.

How warm is the pool water?

The indoor pool is kept at 29 degrees Celsius — all year round, winter included.

What is there to do in bad weather?

Inside the house: pool, hot tub and sauna area, and the wood-burning stove in the living room in the evening. Nearby, Tolk-Schau, the Arche Warder wildlife park and the restaurants in Kappeln are all good options.

How far is the beach?

About 20 metres. Schönhagen has around 1,000 metres of fine sandy Baltic beach, joining the beach at Kappeln to the north and giving way to cliffs in the south.

How many people does the house sleep?

Up to 12 guests. Across 195 m² there are five bedrooms, an additional alcove room with a curtain and two bathrooms.

Are dogs allowed?

No. The house is let without pets — unfortunately dogs cannot be brought along.

Is there a garden or outdoor space?

The plot is 1,500 m², with an open and partly covered terrace, garden furniture and a barbecue. A large meadow by the sea belongs to the house — room for kites, ball games and blankets in the wind.

How long is the drive from Hamburg?

About an hour and a half by car via the A7. Two free parking spaces belong to the house, one with a charging point for electric vehicles.

Is there a charging point for electric cars?

Yes. The house has its own wallbox at the parking spaces right by the house. It is activated with an RFID chip.

Can you get here without a car?

Yes. There is a good rail connection to Eckernförde and a bus service from there to Schönhagen. The beach, bakery, restaurant and playground are all within walking distance of the house.

Where can you shop and eat?

A restaurant is 50 metres away, a shop and playground 100 metres. Kappeln, with a wider choice of shops and restaurants, is about five kilometres away.

What are good day trips with children?

The Tolk-Schau family theme park is a good half hour away by car, the Arche Warder wildlife park about an hour. In Schönhagen itself there is a playground 100 metres from the house.

What is worth seeing nearby?

The cliffs south of the beach, the Schlei town of Kappeln with its harbour and excursion boats, Arnis as Germany's smallest town, and the Olpenitz Baltic resort — all a few minutes by car.

Can you explore the area by bike?

Very well. The landscape between the Baltic and the Schlei is flat; a popular loop follows the Schlei shore via Lindaunis, Arnis and Kappeln.

Is there Wi-Fi in the house?

Yes. A Wi-Fi network on a fibre-optic connection covers the whole house — fast enough for streaming in the evening and for working from the holiday home.

How is the house equipped?

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven and microwave. Both bathrooms have a shower and underfloor heating, and there is a wood-burning stove in the living area.

How are utility costs billed?

Energy is billed according to actual consumption. The rates are the same for all holiday homes in Schönhagen let through NOVASOL and are not set by the owners — we have no influence on the amount.

How sustainable is the energy supply?

The house has its own photovoltaic system. In addition, our electricity and gas come from contracts based on renewable energy.
